Back to his old tricks?

Big Bank Kanye and two of his fans

It's been brought to my attention, thanks to djxplicit and some of the other kids over at the Kanye = Douche blog, that Big Bank Kanye might have just pulled another "Jesus Walks" with this new single of his, "Diamonds are Forever," or whatever it's called. According to this kid called "Skein" that posts there, Teh Ghey West jacked the idea for "Diamonds" from some underground rapper named Lupe Fiasco. (That's almost as ridonkulous a name as Rhymefest). You can check out the Lupe Fiasco version here:

http://www.sitesled.com/members/busy04/Lupe_Fiasco-Conflict_Diamonds.mp3

If this is true, and right now I don't have any reason to believe that it isn't, then it marks at least the 3rd time TGW has "borrowed" music from some underground artist. His big Grammy-winning single "Jesus Walks" is basically a cover version of a song by an artist named Rhymefest, even though TGW continues to insist that 'Fest's involvement in the song (he came up with the beat and most of the lyrics) amounted to nothing more than a little help with the lyrics. Also, TGW jacked the chorus for that Ludacris song "Stand Up" from some underground group called I.O.F. (It's Only Family).

More on this as it develops.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the "Diamonds..." song and Kanye's whole platform wrong and idiotic within itself? Doesn't the DeBeers company own damn near every diamond mine/processing plant in South Africa if not the world? Come to think of it from what I've read they own the copyright to the word diamond and most things related to diamonds. They are a private company under British or Dutch ownership who has used SA's inhabitants as unpaid workers (see slaves) to unearth their ever so precious crop. This is what the subplots in movies like "The Rundown" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" were loosely based off of minus the theatrics. DeBeers has been in "business" since "the 1800's" but as we all know the world's most precious diamonds originate from South Africa. So what the hell is a conflict free diamond? If anyone has information please add on to this post. And before anyone starts a discussion about the "diamond smuggling revolutionaries" remember that Debeers held a monopoly in the diamond market so anyone who wasn't affiliated with Debeers was considered a smuggler.

You all really need to quit. You all need to stop hatin on this man. What the hell has he done to you all? Your answer please? Not a damn thing should be it. If you don't like his music, then don't fuckin listen to it. Nobody is forcing you to listen to his music all day everyday. Obviously if you take the time to listen to his music, then you must like it to some extent. Just because you weren't genius enough and blessed to be as talented as he is doesn't meant that you all should try and sabotage the man. Yes you all have the right to freedom of speech, but this is just some childish shit. Stop trying to sabotage the man, stop this stupid ass petition and call if a fuckin day.

Posted by: gegro | Sep 9, 2005 1:17:22 AM

What kind of dumbass are you. Its one thing to not like someone else's opinion, but to use derogatory terms like "cracker" shows the complete ignorance of you. Just because I disagree with you, doesn't mean Im gonna call people a "nigger" "spic" or "sand nigger". You are a fucking dumb shit, and the fact that you say that djxplicit doesnt get any "pussy" tells the whole world that you only get love from your hand or that fat girl at the party everyone avoids. You're a loser.

Listen,

I think its fine that you have your opinion on this man, but you're shelling out so many half-truth's that it's just not justified anymore.

'Wake up, bitches. I'm not jealous of his incredible ability to buy some guy's song and pretend it's his own.'

You're making it seem as if Kanye West is the only guy to ever do this?

Around half of the music you hear today will be written by randommers and performed by session musicians for a couple of hundred quid, then thrown into the consumer market under some manufactured band name to make millions for executives and bigwigs.

The painful truth that you have to realise about music nowadays is that everybody jacks bits from everybody else, and originality is hard to come by.

Sure Kanye may have used material from other sources, but doesn't his success with his own material compliment his use of other artists material?

The thing that gets to me about this site is the fact that you're attacking this man, his family, his friends and his fans for something that thousands of people do every single day in the music industry, and adding satire to your views to make this person seem like nothing but a plagarising monster.

You are wrong about the Lupe Fiasco Track:
http://www.mtv.com/bands/m/music_geek/kanyewest_100305/

As regards the IOF/Ludacris/Kanye track, you are right:
http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/6501

I honestly think you are taking your views too far, I mean come on, a Petition??? I think if you bothered to investigate OTHER grammy nominees/winners then you would find a lot more sinister plots.

When people post responses protecting this man, they expect you to provide feasable reasons why you are doing what you're doing, but all I've seen is people commenting on the lack of grammar or 'poor' use of words from other posters (David)... it's weak!

My eyes are bleeding at the lack of knowledge you and your community possess about Kanye's actual music (see the very poor Late Registration album listing in an earlier post). Maybe you should get out there and hear what you NEED to hear, not what you WANT to hear.

If you want Kanye off the top spot, you need to get out there and take him off with something more appealing to a larger audience.

You call Kanye a 'Song Recycler', but all I see you doing is recycling the same point over and over, using one more Kanye track as fodder. I think you need to sort it out... Hypocrite.

do u even know who lupe fiasco is?if u did i think ud think diffrently and also, even IF kanye did 'steal' this song from lupe fiasco lupe wouldnt mind he features in kanyes song (touch the sky) and so im gessing they are friends who wouldnt banter about where a song originated. kanye is not only the best hip hop artist around but i went to see him in concert last nite and whilst performing he showed 3 minutes worth of insults to him from the press on the screen. he finished with him complimenting himself and the crowd went wild. i dont know many people who can do that and not get bood. also, if u dont like kanye this much (which u clearly despise him) maybe u shudnt think or write about him as much?it seems the sensible thing to do and maybe u wont be as oring as you seem. i appreciate that u have ur opinion but so does kanye, so y shud ur opinion be acceptable to be heard but his not? i think u shud re think ur ideas here.

I saw this chic mc comin out of LA, Le'isa Saalabi-Jones. She isa tight mc. Her album Le'isa Saalabi Jones, The girl isa b**ch is only on underground records right now. you can peep her around town. i think she did some stuff with Lil M and T-Bone from the east side ball stars...

L'isa says her influences are billy holiday and lauryn hill. She kinda sounds like em too.

Her sister Holly Saalabi used to know this girl that dated Kanye's friend and said he dissed her in public one day, that was my point in bringing her up, besides letting y'all in on a cool new artist. but check it out, Le'isa Saalabi Jones.

I told her to drop the saalabi and keep the jones but she says her moms would kill her so I guess it isa culture thing I think.

Anyways check her out, Le'isa Saalabi Jones now.

(In the words of Muhammed Ali Harnsongkram) peace - love n harmony to all my people!
