Who is Kanye West's father?
If this is true, it certainly explains a lot:
Much of The College Dropout is explicitly addressed to the rapper's mother: Kan's Louis Vuitton Moms is the major supporting character in his autobiographical melodrama. He's backed this up in interviews, where he's been the anti-Eminem - he talks about his mom constantly, praising her in whatever major media outlet will let him blather on. "Family Business," the most moving song on a very moving album, is practically a tribute to the matrilineal family.
But what about West's pilloried father? Early articles about the producer-rapper always seemed to mention that West was the son of prominent (but always unnamed) professor. Lately, the pieces don't mention a father at all -- which is odd, given that so much of the album is dedicated to taking pops apart.
One theory I've heard (and maybe one you've heard, too): Cornel West is Kanye West's father. There's been an under-the-table agreement between the two not to mention the relation in the press. Hey, I strongly doubt it, too, but it would go a hell of a long way towards explaining all the hostility, and the conflation of the figure of the deadbeat dad with the uncaring professor on The College Dropout. There's that family resemblance, too: an incisive, prosaic viciousness, a will toward ideological destructiveness.
Like I said, if this is true, remember where you heard it first. If it turns out it isn't, I'll just say I got it from here.

I think that who ever is over this website is so lame. I think Kanye is one of the best rappers we got. Why are you hating on this man. You're spending all your time on him and more than likely you don't even no who he is. Some people can be so dumb at times. Get over it he's young, black, rich, and successfull. Try to be like that.

Jessica Simpson fucking lipsyncs and you couldn't just make a site about banning her from the world? Maybe kanye ghost writes... but you're taking shots at his integrity with petty gossip and rumors about his father and mother that are mostly likely largely untrue. I'm not sure what it is in your mind that drove you to make such a pointless site either. Instead of creating a site that is positive, you create a negative one for simple publicity. I hate Ja Rule but I didn't make a site about how much I hate him or how much of a lame ass he is. You can't deny that he still spits lyrics with a lot of soul... and I challenge you to try and imitate his style in both beats and rapping. I'm sure you wouldn't come close. The College Dropout is still a great album even if Kanye West didn't write a single fucking song.

am a 14 year old girl and a major kanye west fan. to see all the losers posting stuff about him is just annoying and i feel sorry for the lot of you computer nerds who have nothing better do that playa hate on a successful man. you need to find a better ways of using your lunch breaks!
also if the only reason you want to ban him from the grammys is because you are scared he is going to win all of his nominations then your are more pathetic than i thought!

Ya'll are the douches! Kanye showed YOUR ASSES! Why spend all of your "down" time digging up stuff about my boy Kanye? No life? Bored? Jealous? Stop hatin' on the kid! All of the millions who do like him make your little hate club worthless...pointless...NOTHING. Uhm, must i mention GRAMMYS soooooo stick your little BAN KANYE up your ass, will you! Cornell West is NOT Kanye's father! His MOTHER was a college English Professor and his FATHER's name is RAY WEST he was a black panther in the 70's and is now a minister in Atlanta, GA. Like many families you ass holes, he wasn't close with his dad...his parents divorced when he was 3. F U C K OFFF!!

Are you kidding me? If you are going to go to the trouble to have an anti-artist website, why not choose someone talentless, pathetic, and fake, like the Simpson sisters or Britney Spears? I don't care who Kanye's dad is. I don't even care who wrote Jesus Walks. It's a great song, and it took courage for Kanye to not only record it but to put it out as a single. If you're going to come out against a crappy rapper, how about P.Diddy? Kanye can rap circles around him. Get a life!

I glad he won, it makes Corny cats feel hot! Isn't amazing how people are afraid to critique rappers but easily dog pop singers. Afraid are we? If you just started REALLY listening to hip hop after 1999/2000, You are not qualified to respond. If you don't know any rapper other than the TRL jam/top 40, you are not qualified to responed. Go listen to some cliff notes and then respond. Go find names of SNUBB producers and hip hop artists that were jack of their style to create this sensation we call KONMAN WEST. If 50 Cents hates Ja Rule for being a phony, a handful of artist in Chicago that were jacked of their beats, rhymes and life will mos def be aiming for the K man.

You guys are rediculous, you come up with the weirdest ass crazy ideas. All your ideas are completely biased and factless. No one's gonna believe this shit. You are some crazy mother fuckers.
get some help

I agree with Alf. If you have no knowledge of rap pre-circa 1999, then your credentials in speaking intelligibly on the subject are in question. Ask Common what he thinks on Kanye West. Ask Group Home. GangStarr. The KonMan has to exorcise his demons. He chose rap as his altar. People read to much into it.

The one thing that "burns my bizkits" is the fact that no one seems to understand the genesis of Kanye West. This man is a sum total of some real sordid life experiences. The very fact that he found a medium to vent his frustrations speaks of his genuis. The way he shows self-restraint amidst critical pundits and reviews belies the commonly-held belief that Black men are irrevocably angry and lack focus on how to channel frustration in a positive direction. Enjoy the new flavor and hues of rap. And calm down. Rap is as you say a secret satire of life, just as capoeira was a fighting system disguised as a dance by early slaves. If you bring the fight openly, the way will be fraught with opposition. But if you offer a slightly tame alternative, those for whom the malcontent is intended will welcome it openly and even laugh with the author. Ask Dave Chappelle...

your all fucking stupid Kanye West is amazing
Posted by: Sandee | Feb 16, 2005 7:17:04 AM
From the time I first met him, the kid lived and breathed beats and rap. He worked harder at it than I've ever seen anybody work at anything. He was indeed obsessed. Neither he nor his mother ever had ANY doubts that he would make it big. He's made a believer out of me. And if he decides to give up this game, he can easily go to the top of the heap in the visual arts. That chapter is yet to come. I had my doubts about the rap route, I always felt that art was his strong card. The boy is good with a paint brush. You heard it here first.

you have got to be kidding me that you would make a website about this. get a fuckin life!! kanye is the truth and i can tell you're not.
Posted by: N8 | Feb 16, 2005 6:23:11 PM
How small minded could you pathetic people be. Kanye didnt ever take all the credit and has done so much himself. He produces, produces, writes and writes and you losers cant even appreciate obvious talent like his. He is successful for many thing not just a couple a songs that he had CO-WRITTEN!! And will continue to be successful because of this. His art, i must add aswell, is amazing, listening to him describing it truely shows his talent of music and art. Glad to see so many responding to this fucking awful and disrespectful website.

HA HA HA HA KANYE WEST IS MAKING ALL THE MONEY AND MORE TALENTED THAN YOU. YOU GUYS ARE JEALOUS CAUSE YOUR NOT HIM. YOU WILL NEVER BE THAT GOOD.

P. Diddy vs. Kanye West
*Annoying as hell
*Grammy's they dont deserve
*Beats largely the same as original songs they sampled (if they even made the beats)

Why the fuk r u baggin someone who's richer & more succesful than all of you will ever be, start talkin shit about someone else thats a bigger loser, like eminem, that dudes fuked in the head, it doesn't matter that kanye might use other beats, as long as it sounds good that's all that matters, heaps of artists do it, method man & jonnel took a G-Unit beat, and i don't see any posts about that, theres no such thing as shit music, its just that persons oppinion, so get over ur fukin selfs & stop thinkin your so high & fuckin mighty,i reckon if u were given the chance to say this shit directly to kanye's face, you'd get knocked the fuk out!!!

'99? Try '89 (the number... another summer...). Kanye's one of the better things to happen to it in a long time. If you truly are as "down" as you pass yourselves off to be, you'd realize that what made hip hop so great until the mid-90s was that it captured originality, soul, and emotion. Real people with real feelings saying real things. "The College Dropout" is a breath of fresh air - a return to form for hip hop.
Get over yourselves. And unless you enjoy crow, don't listen to the new Common album when it drops next month. Another neo-classic from Kanye.
All those Chicago artists jacked by and going after Kanye? Please. I wonder if Common, GLC, and Twista, to name a few, would agree?
